Full kitchen renovation in a Brooklyn brownstone, transforming a cramped, dated galley kitchen into an open, modern cooking and entertaining space with custom-painted cabinetry and designer finishes.
The original kitchen had minimal natural light, outdated oak cabinets, and a vinyl floor that needed to be preserved due to landmark district regulations. The client wanted a bright, airy feel without replacing the original floor.
We painted the existing cabinets in a warm white with durable semi-gloss enamel, applied a light greige to walls and ceiling to reflect light, installed a herringbone marble backsplash, and refinished the original pine floorboards with a whitewash stain. Under-cabinet and pendant lighting completed the transformation.
The kitchen feels twice as large and bright. The painted cabinets have held up perfectly to daily use, and the whitewashed floors gave the space a Scandinavian warmth that the client loves.
